Currently I am working on a series of abstract landscapes, which are all similar in composition, but different in color, and paint handling. Some are light, some are dark, some are a little bit scary.
These paintings are based (loosely) on some concepts of physics, and the nature of reality, are a way to try to understand the world, and lacking the mathematical skills/language to describe these things, it falls to the brush, the chisel, and other tools to express these ideas.
I’ve been visiting and revisiting the idea of the tesseract, which is a theoretical object that displays visually things that may or may not really exist, such as multiple dimensions of space beyond those we can perceive with our own senses, and the idea of doorways, or portals to other worlds/realities.
The tesseract paintings began as outside looking in, and at some point, the perspective shifted to inside looking out. I’m not sure when that happened, but I’m going to run with it for now.
Wish me luck
